Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s topic is Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019

The Wicked King-January 8th

Even though this book comes out the day this post comes out, I won’t be getting a copy for a bit whether it gets there on the exact day its released then I have to wait till the weekend, or it could be a few weeks before I get my hands on this.

Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen M. McManus-January 8th

I didn’t like One of Us is Lying, but I have high hopes for this because I literally am getting Pretty Little Liars vibes from this especially with that cover.

Slayer by Kiersten White-January 8th

The cover and synopsis sounds amazing…

Black Enough by Ibi Zoboi and other authors-January 8th

Ehh why not. I heard good things and while I don’t like Ibi Zoboi’s writing, but I’m curious to see if this turns out good.

The Glided Wolves by Roshani Chokshi-January 15th

I haven’t read anything about this author, but a few of my Backlist TBR has a few of her novels. I liked the synopsis, the cover not so much.

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo-January 29th

I still haven’t read the Grisha trilogy yet, but I swear I will put book 2 and 3 on hold so I could read it, but I’ll get to it.

Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty-January 29th

I liked City of Brass, and I heard this book is so much better than the first that I’m so excited though!

The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali by Sabina Khan-January 29th

LGBTQ novel, and features a POC

On the Come Up by Angie Thomas-February 5th

Angie Thomas’s second novel that focuses more on rapping. I loved her debut novel The Hate U Give, so I have high hopes this one would be quite as good as her debut novel.

Lady Smoke by Laura Sebastian-February 5th

I didn’t like Ash Princess because I had so much deja vu it wasn’t funny, but I still want to see where this story goes as it has a lot going for it.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi-March 5th

I loved her debut novel Children of Blood and Bone, despite her actions a few months ago, I’m still excited what’s going to happen with this book.

The Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton-March 5th

I liked the Belles a lot when I first read it, but I hope this one brings the action. I heard mix reviews about this one so I don’t know.

The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Posten-April 2nd

I liked Geekerella a lot so imagine my surprise to find out there is a sequel that won’t be with the two original characters, but hopefully this one is good too.

If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberley-April 23rd

It has a gorgeous cover, and well the synopsis sounds amazing also apparently it’s a retelling.

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff-May 7th

I loved their collaboration will Illuminae Files trilogy, so I’m quite hoping this one would good as that.

Finale by Stephanie Garber-May 7th

I didn’t like Caraval, and Legendary was okay, but hopefully I could find entertainment with this book.

Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo-May 7th

I like Maurene Goo stories, while they don’t go up three stars. I find them quite entertaining and I love them to pieces. This book has k-pop and stuff in it, so quite different.

There’s Something about Sweetie by Sandhya Menon-May 15th

Sandhya Menon is either a hit or miss for me. I didn’t like her debut novel, When Dimple Met Rishi, but I liked From Twinkle, with Love. This book features Indian people and obese.

All of Us With Wings by Michelle Ruiz Keil-June 18th

This book is cutting it close because of the day, but it’s in June so, it should be fine. This is an ownvoices book with a Latinax girl and LGBTQ, also the cover is amazing all together
